How long will they have to wait...?
Esther died the 28.09.2016. She was killed by Ewings Sarcoma. James Ewing (1866-1943) first described the tumour long time ago.. Since that treatment has had some progress but not enough. We have met other children, wounderfull human beings, fighting other types of cancer. They are no longer among us. Many more will follow and I wounder how long will it take...?
This all boils down to economy. Probably a foolish comparison but bear with me: If a mad man run around with a machine gun killing more than 10 000 people in Norway every year the population would certainly demand resourses hunting him down. If the police ran out of money not being able to do so what would happen...? Cancer does not only kill people it "tortures them as well". I had to observe my beloved child in crampes, trowing up, in high life- treathening fever, suffereing pain, injected with needles, hickman catheter, probes, loosing her weight. On and on I could go.... Its horrible, feeling like a spectator when the person you love goes through such agony. And later realize that covernment spend below 0,3% to fight this......
There is still a long way to go in research. Observing politicians, media etc cancer will continue to kill our love once for a looooong time. If the Norwegian government financed 100 researcher`s working full time on developing new cancer treatment the hole world would know about it. It would in due time have an enormous impact globaly! There would certainly be results in developing new stategies and thereby saving lifes... Yet, during our recent State budget "debate" no one demanded or even suggested such. Cancer has the worst impact on society. Is it OK that wounderfull people suffer and die....? Around each cancer patient there are lots of family and friend`s. They also suffer. Why is this not on the agenda?
